Laos to build first vehicle quality inspection centre

Laos plans to construct the nation’s first vehicle quality inspection centre aiming to scrutinise and ensure the safety of road transport in the country. Officially known as Project construction of vehicle quality inspection centre in Vientiane, it will focus on developing a facility that inspects and guarantees the quality of vehicles in Laos, Director and Chief Executive officer of UMG Lao Mr Chalongchai Chayutrapong confirmed. The project costing over U$$10 million will start in 2018 with investment by UMG Lao. Mr Chalongchai told Vientiane Times on February 15 the firm recently signed an agreement with the Department of Standardisation and Metrology under the Ministry of Sciences and Technology for cooperation and construction of the centre.
